FAQ

Is kava better than alcohol?

For most outcomes users care about, yes — kava does not produce physical dependence, does not cause liver damage at moderate doses, leaves cognition intact, and has no hangover. For social disinhibition specifically, alcohol is more aggressive. Kava is increasingly used as a direct alcohol replacement in sober-curious spaces.

Can I mix kava and kratom?

Many users combine the two, especially at kava bars. Both modulate sedative pathways. The combination increases total sedation and CNS depression. Start with lower doses of each when combining. Do not add alcohol or benzos on top.

Is kava stronger than kratom?

Different type of effect. Kava is an anxiolytic/sedative; kratom has opioid-receptor activity. You cannot compare them on a single "stronger" axis. Kratom is more pharmacologically significant in terms of dependence potential.

Which is safer?

Kava with noble cultivars and moderate use is the safest of the three. Kratom (leaf only, not 7-OH) is next. Alcohol has the most severe long-term health consequences of the three in population-level studies.
