What we are — and are not

Kava Finders is a consumer-facing product-investigation site for kava and related botanical preparations. We are not medical professionals. Nothing on this site is medical advice. Kava has documented risks including hepatotoxicity (particularly with non-aqueous extracts and acetone-extracted preparations). If you experience jaundice, nausea, or liver-related symptoms, stop kava and seek medical evaluation.

Who writes

Content is produced by our editorial team — independent researchers. We do not use fabricated medical-reviewer personas. Any named contributor will have a verifiable public footprint linked from their byline.

Primary sources we cite

  • Peer-reviewed pharmacology: PubMed-indexed research on kavalactones, hepatic-safety studies, noble kava vs tudei chemistry.
  • WHO: Kava Assessment Report and periodic reviews.
  • EFSA and FDA: European and US regulatory records, Warning Letters, and adverse-event reports.
  • Pacific-region governments: cultivar registries and quality standards from Vanuatu, Fiji, and Tonga.

Bar and brand coverage

Listing is not an endorsement. We describe what bars and brands claim, what independent testing (if any) verifies, and what is known about sourcing and cultivar. We do not invent star ratings, user reviews, or aggregate scores.

AI disclosure

We use AI tooling for research, drafting, and formatting. No page is published without editorial review. We do not publish AI-generated user reviews, invented case reports, or fabricated medical credentials. Earlier versions of this site contained a fabricated reviewer persona; that material has been removed during the 2026-04 editorial reset.
